McKenzie County Sheriff’s Office pushes forward on 911 proposal

The debate over returning 911 dispatch services to local control in McKenzie County remains unresolved, with the latest update from the McKenzie County Sheriff’s Office confirming that three first responder groups still do not support the proposal.
In a newly released statement dated April 15, Chief Deputy Michael Ficken said the office met with agencies that had raised concerns about the plan to bring Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) operations back to the county. Despite additional meetings and discussions, those entities “remain that they do not support the proposal at this time,” stated Ficken in a prepared statement.
