Jessica Mogen named as a finalist for Miss Basketball

Watford City senior Jessica Mogen is one of six finalists for the prestigious Miss Basketball Award. Mogen averaged 20.6 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 5 steals and 2.5 blocks per game this season. She is the third finalist for the award in Watford City history.
Jessica’s older sister, Katie Mogen, was a finalist in 2016, and Molly Anderson was a finalist in 1997. Miss Basketball is voted by the members of the North Dakota Associated Press Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NDAPSSA).
The other finalists this year are Mataeya Mathern from Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier, Ashtron Safranski from Fargo Davies, Rylee Satrom from Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg, Jocelyn Schiller from Grand Forks Red River, and Maya Vibeto from Minot Our Redeemer’s. Jessica Mogen is the only finalist from Division A. Safranski and Schiller played in Division AA and the EDC. Mathern, Satrom and Vibeto played in Division B.
Only seniors are eligible to be nominated for Miss Basketball. There is no minimum or maximum number of finalists, it varies with each year.
