We had a great day at our home track and field meet with many personal bests. Both the varsity and JV teams placed first. The guys were ready to compete in front of their home crowd. They are progressing very well in their training and our having a very good season. We are excited to see the results of the hard work when we compete at the state track and field meet in May.
We were able to qualify three more events. Dehico Bocanegra Tovar got us started by qualifying the 3200 that just missed our school record by 74 hundredths of a second. He will get that record the next time that he runs it. James Odenbach and Chase Cutshall both ran very well in the 300 hurdles, with both qualifying for state.
Our 4x100 team of Levi Maunu, Trysten DeVries, Wesley Gray, and James Odenbach qualified for the state meet. We have two more relays to try and get qualified and have a pretty good chance to do that in both. Our 4x200 team just missed it by 58 hundredths. We have not run the 4x800 relay, but on paper we are close and will give it a try at the next meet.
