Longtime McKenzie County Commissioner Kathy Skarda is seeking re-election in 2026, campaigning on continued investment in infrastructure, emergency services, responsible development, and long-term planning for future generations in one of North Dakota’s fastest-changing counties.
Skarda, a farmer and rancher from the Keene area, said her approach to county government has always centered on balancing growth with protection of the land, natural resources, and quality of life for residents.
“As your county commissioner, I have strived to listen and to work with our citizens to provide McKenzie County with services and amenities that welcomes new families and offer our local families a place to live, work and play,” Skarda said in a statement announcing her campaign. “Working today for a better tomorrow are not just words to me but a way of life and a commitment to the people of McKenzie County.”
