Roberta Jost

Roberta “Bobbie” Jost, 83, Hettinger, N.D., loving wife and mother, passed away peacefully of natural causes on March 24, 2023, at Comfort House in Dickinson, N.D.
Bobbie lived the majority of her life in Watford City, N.D., growing up with her siblings and later sharing her life with her husband, Clarence, while raising nine children.
Bobbie was born in Watford City on July 14, 1939, to Bob and Cora Sanford. She graduated from Watford City High School in 1957 and attended a semester of college at North Dakota State University. On Dec. 27, 1957, she married Clarence, her high school sweetheart, and they ventured off to Fayetteville, N.C., where she began home-making and Clarence served in the United States Army. After returning home to Watford City, they welcomed their first born son, Marlen. Bobbie loved babies and was a devoted mother to her nine children.
Bobbie was a woman of strong faith in God and believed in His goodness and blessings. Her beliefs guided her life with personal and group prayer and Bible study on a daily basis. She was an accomplished quilter and a certified sewing machine technician. Bobbie found time to grind flour to make homemade breads using local wheat. She developed teaching assistant skills working at Johnson Corners Christian Academy while also driving the school bus part-time. Bobbie extended her gift for care-giving by offering foster care in her home for several children in McKenzie County.
Throughout their married life, Bobbie participated in Clarence’s business ventures providing assistance with business administration and occasionally worked onsite. She enjoyed travel planning and arranged for her and Clarence to travel throughout the world including several trips to Europe, Israel, and India. She especially enjoyed traveling to border cities in Mexico. Bobbie and Clarence had friends and fellow followers of Christ throughout the United States with especially close friends in Cucamonga, Calif.
Bobbie is survived by her husband of 65 years, Clarence Jost; and their children, Marlen (Anne) Jost, Lisa (Mike) Clayton, Jeffrey Jost, Korina (Terry) Spratta, Stephanie (Paul) Beck, Bradley Jost, Aaron (Liz) Jost, Clarence Peter Jost, Joshua (Erica) Jost; 20 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Audrey (Sanford) Olson, Norene Sanford, Wayne Sanford, Arden Sanford.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arne “Bob” and Cora Sanford.
Bobbie will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on March 31, at the Centennial Chapel in Hettinger, N.D.
