Iva Jones

Iva Jones, 83, of Keene, passed away Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016, at St. Luke’s Home, Dickinson, N.D.
Iva was born Dec. 17 1932, to Henry and Ivonetta (Martin) Norby near Charlson, N.D.
She was the 9th of 15 children and attended school in Charlson and Sanish.
Iva worked at numerous farms in the area until her marriage to David Jones, of Keene, on Sept. 15, 1951.
Iva was active in Faith Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday School and as a member of the Ladies Aid. With many siblings serving in the military, she took much pride in serving on the VFW Auxiliary. She served many years as a leader for Keene Lucky Leaf 4-H Club. She enjoyed playing a round of golf and was an outstanding bowler. Iva’s average bowling was 280.
Iva always welcomed you with coffee and home baked goodies. She had many talents, which included sewing, painting, quilting and crocheting afghans. Many lawn ornaments, still on display in the yard were hand drawn, cut out and painted by her.
She is preceded in death by her beloved infant daughter, Sandra; and her son, Terry; her parents, and 12 brothers and sisters.
Iva is survived by her husband of 65 years, David; children, daughter, Valorie (Mike) Uhlir of Grand Forks, and their children, Adam and Megan Shaul; son, Larry Jones of Keene; daughter, Wendy (Mike) Tyrer of Beloit, Wisc., and her child, Jennifer; and daughter-in-law, Anne (survived by Terry) Jones of Dickinson, and their children Ryan, Abigayle, Kendall, Lucas and Colton. Iva has 6 great-grandchildren, Kelli Jo, Tera, Kali, Kira, Ashton and Jacob.
Edward Flys Away
Edward Flys Away, 80, of Mandaree, N.D., died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016, in Alamosa, Colo.
His funeral mass was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, at the St. Anthony Mission near Mandaree, N.D. Wake services were at 5 p.m. at the Mission on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016. Burial will be in the St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home of Watford City is assisting the family.
