Elaine Judkins

Elaine Judkins, 90, passed away Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016, at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Watford City, N.D.  
Elaine Olson was born April 28, 1926, to Ole B. and Dora (Stegner) in Sauk Centre, Minn.
At the age of three she moved with her family to the Johnson Corners area of N.D.
In her early 20's she moved to Seattle, Wash., where she worked as a nanny for a doctor’s family for several years.
Upon her return to N.D., she married Lyle Edward Judkins at the First Lutheran Church in Watford City, N.D., on Dec. 17, 1955.
They continued living in the Watford City area where they raised a son and daughter; Wayne and Diane.
She was a hard worker and was employed by a dry cleaners, Mabel’s Café, Larry’s Café, and in 1978 began working at a job she truly loved, the Good Shepherd Home in Watford City, until her retirement.
In 2010, she became a resident of the Good Shepherd Home where she looked forward to visits from her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Elaine loved music and enjoyed playing guitar, harmonica, keyboard, and omnichord. She also loved being outdoors enjoying God’s creation. Frequent camping and fishing trips with the family were her favorite weekend activities. Her Christian faith was also very important to her and she enjoyed attending church, attending Bible studies, and sharing her faith with others.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle; parents, Ole and Dora; brother, Glendon Olson; sister’s, Audrey Gravos, Doris Wheeler, Arlene Grendahl and a baby sister, Lorene.
Elaine is survived by her loving family; son, Wayne (Sandra Omar) of Towner, N.D.; daughter, Diane Judkins, Watford City, N.D.; sister, Lorraine Skarda, Seattle, Wash.; granddaughter, Danielle (Anthony) Ramos, Minot, N.D.; grandson, Jeffrey Judkins, Boston, Mass.; and great-grandchildren, Shanaya, Micah and Hannah, Watford City.
Her funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2016, at the CrossPoint Church, Watford City, N.D. Pastor Jeff Ruggles officiated and burial will be in the Schafer Cemetery.
Friends called at the Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home in Watford City on Tuesday from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. followed by a family service.

Lavern Borchert
Lavern Borchert, 76, of Arnegard, N.D., died Wednesday morning, Aug. 17, 2016, at Trinity Medical Center in Minot.
At his request cremation has taken place and no public service will be held. A private family gathering will take place at a later date.
