WBI Energy Transmission, Inc. has officially set the wheels in motion for a multi-million dollar infrastructure project aimed at boosting natural gas capacity in the Bakken region.
On March 31, the Bismarck-based company filed an application with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for the “Line Section 32 Expansion Project.” The proposal, estimated to cost approximately $68.1 million, seeks to bolster the region’s energy grid by fueling a new electric generation facility near Epping.
According to a recent press release, the primary objective of the expansion is the transport of an additional 190,000 equivalent dekatherms of natural gas per day. This increased volume is destined for a new power generation station, which WBI says will secure a steady energy supply for the growing needs of Williams and McKenzie counties. WBI Energy also stated that this project is essential for regional growth.
