Community leaders in Arnegard are advancing a sweeping long-term development strategy centered on transforming the former Arnegard School into a multi-purpose community facility while simultaneously addressing transportation infrastructure, housing needs, and municipal debt obligations.
The proposal, outlined in the city’s updated Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), represents a comprehensive vision aimed at strengthening the community’s future through strategic investments designed to improve quality of life, support economic development, and create opportunities for residents of all ages.
School Redevelopment at the Center of the Plan
The cornerstone of the proposal is the acquisition and redevelopment of the former Arnegard School building, a structure that has stood as a community landmark for generations.
According to the plan, the city is seeking approximately $1.6 million to purchase the school property and an additional $7.818 million for redevelopment costs. City leaders envision transforming the building into a multi-use community center capable of serving a variety of public needs.
