Veeder says sustainable grazing is beneficial for the environment

Gene Veeder, a long-time resident and rancher in McKenzie County, is championing a new way of thinking about agriculture and ranching in general.
“One of the things, as a rancher, that I’ve been mildly irritated with for the last 20 years is looking at how I manage my ranch and then listening to the public talk about how ranching and cattle are destroying an environment when I know that’s not true. I see what we do out here on a ranch every day,” Veeder explained.
Veeder says the conversations that are going on nationally and internationally about carbon pollution has made many groups and activists look at the ranching industry. These groups have questioned the global impact that ranching has on the environment, and Veeder has set out to gather actual data from his ranch.
