Wolves split in baseball action

The Watford City Wolves baseball team opened its 2009 season last week splitting in non-league action against Des Lacs/Burlington and Trinity Christian.
This week, the Wolves will begin league play as they travel to Bishop Ryan on April 23 and then host North Shore on Tuesday, April 28.

Des Lacs 5, Watford City 4
The Wolves varsity baseball team split in double header action on April 16 against Des Lacs/Burlington with the Lakers winning the first game 5-4 and the Wolves coming back to take the second game 10-7.
Pacing the Wolves at the plate was Kirby Knudtson and Trey Jacobson, who went two for three and two for four, respectively. James Neer took the loss on the mound for Watford City.
Watford City 10, Des Lacs 7
After playing to a 1-1 tie after the first inning, the Lakers took the lead for good outscoring the Wolves 4-2 in the second inning with Watford City scoring their final run of the game in the sixth inning.
In the second game of the day, Watford City came from behind to knock off the Lakers 10-7 on a Christian Schulz three-run walk off home run.
 Trey Jacobson was one for one at the plate, drew three walks and scored four runs for the Wolves. Christian Schulz picked up the win on the mound for Watford City.

Trinity 5, Watford City 4
Watford City 5, Trinity 1
After losing the first game against Trinity Christian 5-4 last Thursday, Watford City came back to take the second game of their double-header 5-1. Dillon Langerud was the losing pitcher in the first game, while Trey Jacobson, who had six strikeouts, was the winning pitcher in the second game.
Kevin Sanford was four of six at the plate with two doubles.
