Watford City senior, Bailey Mattson, has signed to play basketball with the Williston State College Lady Tetons next year.
“I really liked how they included me,” said Mattson, about the recruiting process. “I went there during a game day, and I got to sit on the bench with them. They gave me a matching warm-up with everybody. I got to be in the locker room at halftime, and I got to break it down with the team every time, and it was super cool. Then they brought me to the dorms. I got to hang out with the girls for a little bit, and it was really nice. So I just felt really included and part of something bigger than myself.”
“I think Williston made a tremendous choice to recruit Bailey and I know they will be thrilled with how Bailey will contribute to their program the next two years,” said Watford City head coach, Tom Dwyer. “She is a hard worker and I know it won’t take her long to figure out how to adjust at the next level. After getting to coach Bailey the last six years, I am going to miss Bailey every day next year.”
In Williston, Mattson will play for Coach Bill Triplett, now in his sixth year with WSC. “I also noticed during the game I was at, coach Triplett got a technical because he was just so passionate about the game, and I was like, ‘Wow, I want to play for a coach like that,’” said Mattson.
