Track results from the Dickinson Pankratz and Carlson Invite May 8, 2026, and the Williston Distance Invite May 7, 2026.
We took a few 400 runners to the Williston Distance Invite on Thursday. Kyle Best ran very well and placed first in the 400 and qualified for state with a time of 52.06. Trysten DeVries placed second with a time of 52.53, and Judah Mitchell placed fourth with a time of 53.69.
Dehico Bocanegra Tovar went along to run the 800. He is looking to add to his school records in that event. He placed third with a time of 2:00.59.
We had a very good day overall in Dickinson. The weather was windy, but finally warm, and the athletes took advantage of it.
The highlight of the day was Thaydan Arnold breaking the shot-put school record with a throw of 55’1”. The previous record holder was held by Jackson Faller with a throw of 54’4” set in 2018. Thaydan had a very good series of throws throughout the competition with all his throws over 51’. His last throw of the prelims missed the school record by 1”. His second throw in finals is the one that got him the school record. I am very happy for Thaydan. All the hard work throughout his career has paid off.
The 4x200 Relay team qualified for state with a time of 1:33.59. The team members are Wesley Gray, Junior Alvarez, Trysten DeVries, and James Odenbach. We are glad to finally get that event in for the state meet. We have been close several times.
