Wolves blow out Trenton to open Region 8 Tournament

Watford City pretty much had a cake walk to the Region 8 semifinals as the Wolves blew by the Trenton Tigers, 54-29, on Monday afternoon.
The Wolves, who were the No. 1 seed from District 15, made short work of Trenton, the No. 4 seed from District 16, in the easy win which ended the Tigers’ season.
Watford City exploded to a commanding 14-1 first quarter lead against Trenton, and never looked back as the Wolves led the Tigers, 23-6, at halftime.
Watford City would extend its lead to 31 points in the second half as the Wolves led the Tigers, 51-19, in the waning minutes of the game.
Ricki Lindley and Amanda Mogen led the Wolves in scoring with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Eight other Watford City players got into the scoring column during the contest with Katie Mogen and Mackenzie Sparby netting six points each, while Lea Arndt netted five points. Rounding out the scoring for the Wolves was Kara Langerud and April Spruell with four points each, while Alyssa Prichard, Kaitlyn Grimes and Leah Mogen added two points each.
For the game, the Wolves shot 33 percent from the field, hitting on 22 of 65 attempts and were good on eight of 22 at the charity stripe.
