Devin Langerud was hoping the the Watford City Wolves girls softball team would have a better showing than they did at the State Softball Tournament in Minot last week. But even though the Wolves lost all three of their games, taking eighth place at State is still better than a whole lot of other teams were able to accomplish.
The Wolves fell to Enderlin-Maple Valley, 8-2, in opening round action of the tournament.
Tessa Dwyer led the team in batting going two for four, while McKenna Mayne was one for two at the  plate. Kaytlyn Grimes was one for four with one RBI.
In Watford City’s second game, the Wolves were overpowered, 11-3, by Lidgerwood-Hankinson-Fairmount in the Consolation semifinals.
At the plate, Tarynn Jacobson was three for four with a double, while Alli Mogen, Tessa Dwyer, and Kara Langerud were two for four. Jacobson and Langerud both had one RBI.
In the battle for seventh place, the Wolves fell victim to Grafton, 14-4.
Tarynn Jacobson and McKenna Mayne were two for three at the plate, while Tori Hopkins had a double and had one RBI. Other players with one RBI were Tarynn Jacobson and Kamryn Grimes.
Tori Hopkins was also named to the All-State Team.
