The 19U Oilers are Winter Classic Champions again, going 4-0 last weekend at home. The Oilers started the weekend against their bitter rivals, the Richland Rangers. The Rangers would strike first midway through the first period. The Oilers answered late in the first with a tap in goal from Payton Norwood. She knocked in a rebound off Berkley Wirtz’s shot after an Aiden Olson pass from behind the net. The Rangers weren’t done, scoring the first 2 goals of the second period. Eastyn Wold answered immediately putting a hard forecheck on the Ranger defense to cause a turnover and she turned it into a goal wheeling into the slot and beating the goalie glove side. Eastyn evened the game 3 minutes later picking up a pass from Norwood and beating the goalie with a deke while falling down from a hook. Aiden got the Oilers the lead 4 minutes into the third picking up her own rebound in front of the net and beating the goalie. 3 minutes later Eastyn completed the hat trick picking the puck up from Emree off the faceoff and beating the goalie high glove side. The Rangers would score 1 more to keep it close but the Oilers got the win 5-4. Sierra Blegen was tested a lot, making 29 saves in the win.
