Watford City was no match for a very good Bismarck Senior Babe Ruth team as the Walleye fell 17-1 to Bismarck in the title game of the State Senior Babe Ruth Tournament.
“We had a good tournament though it was a disappointing finish,” stated Pat Spacher, Walleye head coach. “The team battled back through the loser-out bracket and played very well.”
The Walleye dropped their opening game to Williston 12-11 and then came back to defeat Dickinson 14-3 in loser-out action. Watford City then battled back from a 4-0 deficit to down Williston 13-6 for the right to advance to the title game.
“I was thrilled with how the tournament turned out and we received a lot of positive feedback about our field, our community and how well everything was organized,” stated Spacher. “Without all of the local people who worked so hard in making this tournament run so well, the tournament would not have been such a success.”

Williston 12, Walleye 11
After Watford City jumped out to a 3-0 first inning lead, the Walleye had to battle back from a 8-3 deficit after four innings of play in the opening round game of the State Senior Babe Ruth Tournament.
And battle back the Walleye did as Watford City would score eight runs in the final three innings. But their comeback effort came up just a little short as the Walleye fell to the Oilers 12-11.
Doug Rolfson took the loss for the Walleye on the mound, while Nick Liebel had a solid game of hitting as he rapped out two home runs and had seven runs batted in.
