The Watford City American Legion baseball team won eight of the 10 games that they played this past week as the Walleye saw their season record improve to 11-2.
The two losses came at the Bismarck Tournament as they fell to Burlington, 1-0, and the Bismarck Reps, 5-1.
“We had a decent tournament for the most part,” stated Pat Spacher, Watford City coach. “We played in four good baseball games which was good for our club. Our pitching was very good and we improved defensively. We just needed a big hit or two to go 4-0 instead of 2-2.”
In spite of the two losses, Watford City picked up eight straight wins as the Walleye swept Glendive, Scobey, and Ray in double-header action before downing the Bismarck 15-year-olds, 3-2, and Beulah, 7-3, in the Bismarck Tournament.
This week Watford City will host Beulah on June 20, Sidney on June 22, Hettinger on June 23 and Williston on June 26.
