Watford City 61,
Dickinson Trinity 55

Watford City picked up a quality win at home over Dickinson Trinity on Monday night. The game was close throughout and both offenses played well, with both teams scoring double digits in all four quarters. Dickinson Trinity led by as many as four, Watford City led by as many as six in the first half before the Wolves settled for a 32-31 halftime lead.

“I could tell we were perhaps more winded than we usually are,” said Watford City head coach, Tom Dwyer. “We tried to substitute a little more frequently. Part of that was the high-paced nature of that game. But I am happy we played three games in four days to prepare for the regional tournament.”

Dickinson Trinity went on a 13-4 run in the third quarter to lead 45-40. Watford City closed the third with the last four points to get back within one. After the Wolves took the lead early in the fourth quarter, Trinity would come back to tie the game at 55-55. Watford City ended the game on a 6-0 run to pick up the win.

“We made some clutch plays down the stretch,” said Coach Dwyer. “We had some good defensive possessions; we got some high quality shots on offense. Bailey (Mattson) made a big three point shot. Annabelle (Bohn) forced a steal and converted that into a fast break layup. There was some other good plays but overall I just thought we played with composure. We did have a little stretch with about two minutes left where we turned over the ball and gave up an easy shot. So it wasn’t perfect, but we didn’t let that boil over to the next play. I was proud that they moved on and kept fighting and found a way to win a big game.”
