Bessie Schmitz carded a 102 to win medalist honors as she led the  Watford City Junior Varsity girls golf team to a first place finish during a home invitational on May 5. Shaunta Miller of the Wolves finished in second place with a 107.
In the junior high competition, Watford City’s Team 1 won the invitational with a score of 501 while the Wolves Team 2 came in fourth with a score of 616.
Emily Ramage led the Wolves to the win firing a score of 117 to take medalist honors. Also placing for Watford City individually was Maty Benth, 2nd, 122; Taylor Dwyer, 3rd, 129; Allison Monson, 4th, WC, 133; Fallon Maston, 5th, 136; and Courtney Vogel, 6th, 137.
“The junior high girls took advantage of their home course and played an exceptional game,” stated Bettenhausen. “I was really pleased with how they hit the ball as they were very accurate with placement. As our season winds down, we need to improve on our putting skills as we are taking too many strokes to get the ball in the hole.”
The next action for the Junior High Girls will be on Wednesday, May 13,  at the Hazen Junior High Invitational, and then on Saturday, May 16, at the Washburn Invitational. The Junior High team will close out its season on Tuesday, May 19, at the Beulah Invitational.
