With all of her starters back from last year’s team, Kelli Taylor, Watford City Wolves’ girls golf team head coach, is looking forward to a very good season.
And Taylor is looking for good things from Emilie Anderson, Shaunta Miller, Allison Monsen, Jayden White Owl, Bessie Schmitz, and Sydney Slais, who all qualified for the state tournament last year.
“Emilie, who qualified individually for State last year, has always been our consistent No. 1 golfer,” states Taylor.
Also earning a spot on the varsity team is Emilie’s younger sister, Amanda, a freshman.
“Amanda has been golfing very well in practice and will be a great addition to the varsity team,” says Taylor.
Other golfers who will compete for one of the six varsity spots are Jordan Sparby, Fallon Maston, and Ashley Hilton and junior high golfers, Kylee Pederson, Karissa Monsen, and Brea Jore.
“With the nice weather we are going to get probably twice as many practices and meets in this year compared to last year,” says Taylor. “We are anxious to see how we perform at our first meet.”
The Wolves girls varsity golf team opens its season on April 12 when they travel to Stanley, while the junior varsity team travels to Hazen.
