Watford City split a pair of games last week, losing at home to Shiloh Christian, but then getting a big win on the road at Standing Rock.

This game was an ultimate example of “a tale of two halves.” Shiloh Christian, still undefeated in Region 4, shot the ball incredibly well in the first half. The Skyhawks built a 10-point lead in the first quarter. They continued their great start into the second quarter as they built a lead as big as 22 points. “I really thought our kids played hesitant in the first half,” said Watford City head coach, Justin Hager. “Confidence is a big thing with our kids. We have to believe we can play with anyone and be the aggressor. We knew they were going to really try to pressure us. They beat us up on the boards pretty bad and our first quarter turnovers were an issue. Against the number 4 team in the state you just can’t do that. Ball security and rebounding are essentials to try to win any game, let alone a really well balanced team in Shiloh. They have eight or nine kids that could all start at any given time. If we don’t come out of the gates playing timid, I think we are in a different situation.”
