Babe Ruth team splits at Gateway Tourney

After posting a 4-2 win over Makoti in the first game of the Gateway League Babe Ruth Tournament on June 20, Watford City lost its second game 18-3 to Renville County and was eliminated from further play.
Watford City 4, Makoti 2
Watford City battled back from a 2-0 deficit to score three runs in the fourth inning to defeat Makoti 4-2 in opening round action of the Gateway League Babe Ruth Tournament in Berthold.
Douglas Nordby was solid at the plate for Watford City going two for two, while Brandon Taylor and Mitchell Liebel picked up the win on the mound.
Watford City picked up its final run in the fifth inning.
Renville County 18, Watford City 3
Watford City was no match for Renville County in semifinal action of the Babe Ruth Tournament as the Mavericks scored 18 runs on 10 hits to beat the Walleye 18-3.
Paul Martin, Bryce Brenno and Mitchell Liebel pitched for Watford City in the loss.
