Michael Ough

Michael Leon Ough was born to Ernest and Myrtle Brekke Ough on Sept. 12, 1956, in Williston, N.D. He attended Webster School in Williston through the fifth grade. In 1967, his father moved the family out west to Portland, Ore., where Michael graduated from David Douglas High School in 1974. Michael went to work in the steel industry in Portland staying with ESCO Corp. for the next 10 years. He then worked as a millwright for Farwest Steel for the last 25 years, retiring in September of 2018.
Mick, as he was affectionately called by his family, was a very handy guy always willing to lend a helping hand. As a young man he enjoyed hunting, gardening, farming, being out in the woods, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and four-wheeling. He was also a certified scuba diver.
Michael passed away suddenly on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019, at his home in Portland, Ore.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents; aunts; uncles; and cousins.
He is survived by his brother, John (Rosie) Ough of Watford City, N.D.; nephew, Ryan (Buffy) Ough and family of North Dakota and Oklahoma; niece, Tina (James) Rosckes and family of North Dakota and Minnesota; and Gregory (Kimberly) Ough and family of North Dakota; his uncle Bob and Aunt Lois Ough of Minnesota; numerous cousins; and his special friend, Diane Treuber of Oregon. Mick will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Cremation has taken place and was conducted by Crown Memorial of Portland, Ore.
A memorial service for Michael will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 4, 2019, at the Fulkerson-Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Watford City, N.D. Inurnment will be in the Rawson Cemetery, Rawson, N.D., under the care of the Fulkerson-Stevenson Funeral Home of Watford City.
