Lisa was born May 10, 1969, in Williston, N.D. to Karen Faye (Sondrol) Berg and Alfred (Herman) Berg of Watford City. She attended elementary school in Watford City for a few years and then was home tutored by Julie Skurupey through her graduation in 1988. She went on to college at UND-Williston where she earned an associate degree in business. She went on to work at several different jobs including eight years in the office at the Good Shepherd Home in Watford City.
Lisa met Douglas Arnold Barkie in 1991 and they were married Dec. 18, 1993. They were blessed with a daughter, Anika Karren, on Dec. 26, 2000.  Lisa was also known for her “Bug-Bites” stories on Facebook. She had a good sense of humor and enjoyed writing about the funny mishaps of everyday life including “Big Daddy.”  She had a special way with the little ones in the family and gave them her undivided attention.   She liked traveling with her husband, daughter, and dogs.  Lisa passed away December 13, 2016 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota.
