Larry Long

Larry Richard Long, 74, of 11882 Redstone Ridge Road, Hesston, and formerly of North Dakota, passed away peacefully at 4:40 p.m. on Monday, July 12, 2021, at UPMC Altoona, with his partner in life, Karen, along with Beth and Todd at his side. Born June 19, 1947, in Huntingdon he was the son of the late Richard and Kathleen I. (Fisher) Long.
He is survived by a son, Tim Long and his wife, Andrea, of McConnellstown; four grandchildren, Sara Long of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Jacob Long of Lewistown, Stephen Long of Milroy, and Michael Long of McConnellstown; and three great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by a sister, Susan (Long) Eisner and her husband, Dave, of Arizona.
Mr. Long was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 223, Mount Union Lodge No. 688, F&A.M., A.B.A.T.E., the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Mill Creek Volunteer Fire Company, and the Sons of the American Legion in Orbisonia. He was also a life-long member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge No. 976.
He attended Mount Union public schools and was a 1965 graduate of Captain Jack Joint High School.
Mr. Long loved his diesel smoke and was employed as an independent truck driver in Charlotte, N.C, for a number of years. After relocating to North Dakota, he worked in the oil and gas field with Black Gold Contractors, LLC, and retired in January, 2019.
He was passionate about riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and vacationing in Florida during Daytona Bike Week. He loved the American flag and was honored to be able to vote in Pennsylvania during the recent Presidential election. His favorite leisurely activity was sitting in the carport with Karen and listening to county music on his favorite radio station, Willie’s Roadhouse; and watching the world go by. He also loved visiting with any friends who stopped by; and enjoyed playing spider solitaire, cutting firewood, mowing, being outdoors, and socializing at the local clubs.
A Masonic memorial service was held on Sunday, July 18, at the funeral home. Friends were also received on Monday, July 19, 2021, at the John B. Brown Funeral Home. A funeral service was held on Monday, July 19, 2021, at the funeral home, with the Pastor Lou Zannino officiating. Interment followed in Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Walker Township, Huntingdon.
