Eleanore Guse
Eleanore Olga Carol LEE Guse, age 92, died peacefully of natural causes on Aug. 2, 2013, at Northgate Nursing Home in Irving, Texas.
Eleanore was born Dec. 17, 1920, to Gilbert T. Lee and Inga Staven Lee on their homestead in Watford City, N.D.
She graduated from Watford City High School in 1938 and moved to Spokane, Wash., where she met and married Jean W. Guse of Bryant S.D., in November of 1939. Before retiring to Mission, Texas, in 1986, they resided in Jasper, Minn., Rochester, Minn., and Sioux Falls S.D. With each move she became very active in the local First Methodist Church, serving as President of the Ladies Aid Society, serving on the communion board and leading and attending many bible study groups. Other civic interests include the Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, and Elks Auxiliary. She was always ready to help her three children with their many projects, interests, music lessons and homework.
Her favorite place was her home where she and Jean loved to have dinners and parties inviting their many friends and relatives. She was an avid bridge player and always loving music she learned to play the Hammond organ in her 50s. Eleanor and Jean also loved to dance and "cut the rug" to some big band sound. Together the family loved the out of doors, enjoying Sunday picnics and venturing out for many camping and hiking trips where they fished and cooked over an open fire pit.
Preceded in death by husband Jean of 64 years, sister Augusta Lee Hegg and brothers, Irvin Lee, Duane "Duke" Lee, and Vernon Lee of Watford City, N.D. and son-in-law Edward Noble of Dallas, Texas.
