Denise Nordeng

Denise Maureen Nordeng, 72, of Twin Valley Township and Watford City, N.D., passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018, at Sanford Medical Center, in Bismarck, N.D.
Denise was a lifelong resident of Twin Valley Township and Watford City. She was born March 5, 1946, to parents Enoch and Bernice (Wold) Nordeng. Her grandparents were Erick and Rena (Holme) Nordeng and M.A. and Ida (Aasen) Wold. All were direct or first generation Norwegian immigrants.
Denise attended grade schools in Twin Valley Township and Watford City. She graduated with the Watford City High School Class of 1965. She lived on the farm with her parents and was a constant helper and companion to her mother Bernice.
Denise moved to the Senior Center in March of 2013, and with her sense of humor made new friends. She lived briefly at Horizon in October of 2017, and most recently resided at the Good Shepherd Home.
Denise was a member of Banks Lutheran Church, the Banks Women of the ELCA, and Garden Homemakers Club. She enjoyed all community celebrations and activities.
She kept calendar journals of daily activities and left a treasure trove of photos of family, friends, neighbors and trips. No birthday cake went unphotographed! She enjoyed the music of Lawrence Welk, Daniel O’Donnell, Elvis and country music. Her only vices were chocolate, Diet Coke, Audie Murphy, casino trips and “Days of Our Lives.”
Preceding her in death were her parents; grandparents; numerous aunts and uncles and cousins.
She has left her much loved family, Sister, Janice (David) Kolding; niece, Jennifer (Gordon) Bentz; nephew, Jeffrey Kolding; all of Bismarck, N.D.; Brother, Mervin (Diane) Nordeng, Fargo, N.D.; niece, Amy (David Doherty) Nordeng and children Madeline and Joseph, of Vienna, Va.; and nephew, Erik (Lisa) Nordeng and children Gavin and Olivia, Fargo, N.D.;
She had a special bond with her close neighbor, Phyllis Nordeng and her children and cousins, Rena and Sy. Her mother’s friend Madeline Miller was also an important maternal friend to Denise.
Her funeral service was held on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at 2 p.m., at the First Lutheran Church in Watford City, N.D. Pastor Rob Favorite officiated. Burial was in the Banks Cemetery near Watford City, N.D. A Prayer Service was held on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at 7 p.m., at the Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home in Watford City, N.D.
