Clara Dschaak
Clara died on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015, at the Billings Clinic, Billings, Mont.
Clara Ann was born Aug. 17, 1931, in Martin, N.D., to Leo and Katie (Feldman) Duda. Clara moved with her family to Fairview, Mont. and that is where she met and married the love of her life, Edwin “Eddie” Dschaak.
Clara and Eddie made Fairview their home for all of the 60 years of their marriage. Together they raised seven children. Clara worked as a homemaker as well as a babysitter for 28 years. She lovingly cared for many, many children out of their home. Over the years, she enjoyed watching so many of her babysitting kids grow up to adulthood and become parents themselves. It always made her so happy when they would bring their babies by the house for a formal introduction and for the special snuggles that only Clara could give.
Clara was a dedicated member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Fairview. She served the church in many capacities, but her favorite and most notable position was “Gravy Maker” at the annual fall dinner. Everyone loved Clara’s gravy. Her hobbies included crocheting, embroidery, gardening, and watching the hummingbirds buzz around the many feeders that she and Eddie had hanging in their yard.
Clara also dearly loved spending time with family and attending their grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s birthday parties, concerts, graduations, and weddings.
In May of 2014, Clara moved to the Faith Lutheran Home in Wolf Point, Mont., where she quickly won over the hearts of the staff as well as her fellow residents with her sparkly personality. Her laugh and smile were very infectious. It was at Faith Home that she became a fierce competitor at BINGO and maintained a very busy social calendar.
Her children thoroughly enjoyed hearing about all of her bible study, yoga, craft, music and social hour adventures. She adored the staff that cared for her as well as the many friends that she made during her time as a resident.
Clara was greeted in heaven by her sweetheart, Eddie; her son, David; her daughter, Jayne; her grandson, Jordan; and her daughter-in-law, Sally on August 4, 2015.
Clara is survived by: five of her seven children; Shirley (Frank) Thomson, Rapid City, S.D.; Eldon (Sharon) Dschaak, Wolf Point, Mont.; Doug Dschaak, Fairview, Mont.; Edwina (Ronnie) Hurley, Fairview, Mont.; Kristi (Brian) Kimble, Eau Claire, Wis.; her two sisters, Betty Seader, Quincy, Wash. and Marge Deming, Fairview, Mont.; her two brothers; Don (Ann) Duda, Missoula, Mont. and Dennis (Janet) Duda, Fairview, Mont.; 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
