Arlene Rhodes

Arlene Rhodes, 89, of Alexander, N.D., passed from this life into life everlasting Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at Good Shepherd Home in Watford City.
Arlene’s Funeral Mass will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Williston with Father Russell Kovash officiating. Interment will follow the service at Riverview Cemetery in Williston.  
Arlene Elizabeth (Steen) Rhodes was born March 10, 1924, in Alexander, N.D., to George Edward and Ida Mary (LaLonde) Steen. She was the granddaughter of pioneer homesteaders, who came to Antelope Township, McKenzie County in 1906. She was raised on the Steen and LaLonde homestead.
During WWII she went “out west” to Seattle, Wash. and worked at Boeing Aircraft. After the war she moved to Great Falls, Mont. where she met a young Airman, Thomas J. Rhodes from east Texas, who was stationed at Malstrom Air Force Base. They married on Jan. 29, 1947, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Alexander, ND. They were married for over fifty-four years until Sept. 6, 2001, when Jack passed away. Her life was lived for the love of her family.
Arlene and Jack raised four daughters and one son whom all survive her. Thelma Ann Houlihan, of Chicago, Ill.; Marlene (Wayne) Warnke, of Bismarck, N.D.; Pat (LeRoy) King, of Epping, N.D.; Judy (Randy) Perry, of Watford City, N.D. and Wayne Thomas (Becky) Rhodes, of Watford City, N.D., seventeen grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and one brother, Duane Steen, of Vida, Mont.; and two sisters, Laverne Hinman, of Fairview, Mont.; and Verda Richard, of Vida, Mont.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Thomas, two brothers, Dean and Kenneth and one sister, Alta Bingen.
