WC man receives 2025 Distinguished Leadership Award

Oscar Knudtson was awarded the 2025 “Distinguished Leadership” Trees Award at the Trees Bowl and Awards Ceremony held in Fargo on Sept. 9, 2025. Nominations were received from across the state and the award winners were recognized by the North Dakota Forest Service and North Dakota State University. This is the most prestigious of the Trees Awards.
Oscar’s teaching has been a key component to the foundation in which the North Dakota Forest Service fire program is built on. Oscar has 49 years in the fire service, with 20 of those years as Chief Officer of the Watford City Fire Department. Along with his time with Watford City, Oscar spent 18 and a half years working within the wildland fire program of the United States Forest Service on the Dakota Prairie Grasslands.
