Traffic was snarled for over thirty minutes on Friday, Feb. 20, after an unoccupied sedan parked in the center median approximately 10 miles south of Watford City on U.S. Highway 85 caught fire.
Deputies stopped traffic in both directions while McKenzie County Rural Fire crews responded and extinguished the blaze. An ambulance also responded.
Fire crews cleared the scene, but had to be requested again as the fire reignited causing another closure of the highway until the blaze was doused a second time. The roadway reopened a second time by 4:40 p.m.
