North Dakota oil production sees slight dip in April, industry remains resilient

North Dakota’s oil and gas industry experienced a slight reduction in production for April 2025, as detailed in the June 2025 Director’s Cut presentation by officials from the North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) and the North Dakota Pipeline Authority. Despite the minor downturn, the state’s energy sector demonstrates resilience, with strong permitting numbers and innovative drilling techniques.

 

McKenzie County Statistics
McKenzie County remains a literal powerhouse in North Dakota’s oil and gas landscape, significantly contributing to the state’s overall production in April 2025. The county accounted for over 31 percent of North Dakota’s total oil output and nearly 45 percent of its natural gas production. While the state saw a slight decrease in the total number of active wells, both McKenzie County and North Dakota as a whole reported robust production figures, underscoring our county’s continued importance in the energy sector.
