North Dakota crops thrive as livestock inventory sees slight dip

North Dakota’s agricultural season is progressing with a mix of good news and slight shifts, as recent USDA reports paint a picture of flourishing fields and a contracting cattle herd. 


North Dakota’s agricultural landscape is showing strong progress for the 2025 season, with recent data from the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) showing promising crop conditions. According to the latest Crop Progress Report for mid-July, corn and soybeans are developing well across the state. The report indicated strong conditions for corn, with 88 percent  rated in the “good” to “excellent” categories, and soybeans following closely behind at 72 percent . This progress is a key indicator as the state’s top crops continue their development through the summer.
