Watford City-based McKenzie Health is expanding its reach, while giving great attention to how its growth feeds back into Watford City.

McKenzie Health has officially expanded to Minot, highlighted by the recent opening of an orthopedic clinic in the Magic City, while celebrating a significant donation toward upgraded diagnostic equipment in its home hospital.

First, the Minot clinic.
The clinic, which held a soft opening in April, hosted its official ribbon-cutting ceremony on November 13th, and is the latest addition to the system’s regional strategy. The clinic primarily focuses on providing orthopedic services as an extension of the surgical center in Watford City.

McKenzie Health System Chief Executive Officer Peter Edis emphasized that the regional growth, which includes a network of satellite clinics, is crucial for maintaining the high-quality specialist care at home.
“I think it’s important to note that what we do outside of McKenzie County is really to support the services that we have in McKenzie County,” Edis explained. “There are only so many hips, knees, shoulders to go around in McKenzie County, and if we want to have these specialists here to serve the residents, then we need to keep them busy because it helps pay for the cost, so let me just say that anything we do outside of our area is really to benefit this community.”

The move is partially driven by the patient following of orthopedic specialist Dr. Ravindra Joshi, who has been with the organization since 2018 and, according to system officials, has performed hundreds of operations in the area.
