McKenzie County officials investigate gas odors near 125th Avenue

McKenzie County Emergency Management and the Sheriff’s Office recently conducted a thorough investigation following multiple reports of propane and natural gas odors between the 2100 and 2200 block of 125th Avenue area.
While the reports initially sparked concern among residents, officials confirmed in an update that no active gas leaks or hazards were identified. Karolin Jappe, McKenzie County Emergency Manager, noted that the odor had subsided by the following morning and that the department is continuing to monitor the area with a large air monitor stationed in the Flickertail Subdivision. Authorities believe the odors may have been linked to the recent stretch of extreme, below-zero temperatures.
