Local healthcare workers honored

On May 15, McKenzie Health presented two of their employees with awards to celebrate their excellence in serving patients. The DAISY Award was given to Chantal Bane, a nurse with the McKenzie Health Labor and Delivery Team, and the newly founded BEE Award was presented to Theresa Martin, who works in patient registration.
The DAISY Award
The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses is an annual award given by the DAISY Foundation to “recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform every day.”
Chantal was one of 30 nurses nominated for the award. Her nomination read, in part, “I want to take this moment to thank you for your kindness, knowledge, wisdom, and support, for your help, time, and care... You are always patient and gentle with us, and our baby enjoyed having you here helping all of us. Saying ‘thank you’ doesn’t feel like enough. I really enjoyed your care and attention. Thank you so much for being a caring nurse. You are there for the smiles and tears and to share the joy...You see us when we are exhausted and keep reminding me that it’s going to get better. Thank you for all you did for us during and after birth. Your guidance, care, and compassion helped more than you know. We will always remember what you did for us. You hold a special place in our hearts.”
