Fedorchak Highlights Energy Policy Wins

MCF Newsroom Reports
Rep. Julie Fedorchak delivered a comprehensive update on her work in Washington, D.C., to the crowd at GNDC with a particular focus on energy policy and recent legislative victories that promise to shape North Dakota’s future.
Drawing on her background as a former Public Service Commissioner, Rep. Fedorchak emphasized her commitment to advocating for North Dakota’s energy interests at the federal level. She described her appointment to the influential Energy Commerce Committee as a significant opportunity to bring her state’s perspective to national policy discussions.
“We get one voice,” she said. “I have to do the work of 38 Texans and 52 Californians. So we’re working hard to make sure it’s a strong voice that reflects wants, the desires and the values and principles of the citizens of North Dakota.”
One of the key highlights of her remarks was the recent passage of the Congressional Review Act, which rolled back a federal management plan that threatened to shut down a large portion of North Dakota’s federal coal and gas leases. “This plan would have cost the state $34 million annually in tax revenue,” Fedorchak noted, underscoring the importance of maintaining a balanced approach to resource management that supports both economic growth and environmental stewardship.
