Fatal head-on collision in McKenzie County
On Tuesday, Aug. 1, at approximately 5:59 p.m., a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox was traveling northbound on Hwy. 85, five miles south of Williston.
A heavy rain and wet road caused the driver of the Equinox, 43 year-old Maria White of Groves, Texas, to hydroplane, crossing over the center of the highway and striking a 2021 Kenworth head on.
White and her passenger, 42 year-old Jose White were pronounced deceased on scene.
The driver of the Kenworth, 57 year-old Richard Poline of Minot, N.D., sustained minor injuries and was transported to via ambulance to a nearby hospital.
Agencies who assisted the N.D. Highway Patrol were the McKenzie County Sheriff’s Office, Williston Rural Fire Department and the Williston Ambulance.
The crash remains under investigation by the N.D. Highway Patrol.
