Despite a gradual decline in recent years, impaired driving continues to pose a significant risk on McKenzie County roadways, according to newly released arrest figures from local law enforcement agencies.

Data provided by the Watford City Police Department (WCPD) and the McKenzie County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) show that a combined 290 impaired driving arrests were made in 2025, with the WCPD reporting 119 DUI arrests and the sheriff’s office recording 171. Arrest totals from the North Dakota Highway Patrol for the McKenzie County region have not yet been released.

The numbers reflect a continued downward trend compared to previous years.
