CSEA Advances Four Energy, Materials Projects
The Technical Committee of North Dakota’s Clean Sustainable Energy Authority (CSEA) reviewed several applications during its meeting last week and voted to approve four projects for potential funding. The committee will collect additional information before reconvening on Jan. 29 to finalize recommended grant or loan awards, which will then be forwarded to the North Dakota Industrial Commission for ultimate approval.
The projects’ focus on advancing clean energy technologies, domestic critical minerals production, lignite valorization, and CO2 emissions reductions aligns with state efforts to diversify the economy and support sustainable energy.
One project is the ND Lithium-Ion Battery Manufacturing Plant, submitted by Fargo-based Packet Digital, LLC. The initiative involves constructing North Dakota’s first battery cell manufacturing facility, with total costs of just over $100.8 million. The company is seeking roughly $2.3 million in grant funds and an $18.8 million loan from CSEA to help finance construction and equipment.
