County officials visit Oklahoma and New Mexico communities

In April, members from different McKenzie County governments and organizations went on an Economic and Workforce Development trip to Ponca City, Okla. and Hobbs, N.M. The purpose of the trip was to understand how these cities’ have developed technical centers to meet their needs. They also wanted to understand how these communities have adapted to fluctuations in primary economic sectors and to understand how workforce retention is addressed by community leadership.
Daniel Stenberg, director of McKenzie County Economic Development, explained that these cities were chosen because of the strengths the communities have developed, as well as the similarities they have with McKenzie County.
