County Considers Rate Changes for McKenzie County Townships

Rates for road maintenance in organized townships utilizing the McKenzie County Road & Bridge Department as their service provider may soon see an adjustment in rates.
The topic was discussed at the February Road & Bridge Subcommittee on Monday, Feb. 9, and was brought to the McKenzie County Board of County Commissioners at their regular meeting on February 17, at the county courthouse during the County Engineer report.
Rates for road blading, snow removal, dust control, aggregate materials, and other maintenance like culverts and cattle guards, were discussed and reviewed with proposals of rate amounts provided to the subcommittee.
Overall consensus was that the current amounts are well below what any contractor would charge, but the rates haven’t been reviewed since around 2015 and the economic differences over that ten-year time frame are quite different.
