With its Gross Production Tax (GPT) receipts rebounding from last year, Watford City’s City Council approved a $9 million preliminary budget for 2022 during its regular meeting on Monday, Aug. 2.
The proposed new budget, according to Laura Dokken, city finance director, is an $888,851 increase from last year.
“We saw the county’s taxable valuations drop slightly due to a decline in centrally assessed properties, such as pipelines,” stated Dokken. “And as a result our taxable valuations went down from $35,116,609 to $34,433,698.”
