Pest pressure mounts on North Dakota crops

The late season is bringing a surge in insect populations and new disease concerns for North Dakota crops, according to the latest NDSU Crop & Pest Report, and farmers in McKenzie County should pay close attention to potential threats to their small grain and oilseed rotations.
While the heart of the most severe insect pressure remains to the east, key findings on wheat midge, Hessian fly, and canola pests suggest a need for vigilance, especially as wet conditions in other parts of the state delay harvest.
