North Dakota fields show steady progress as summer advances

The latest Crop Progress report released by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) on June 30, 2025, indicates steady development across North Dakota’s agricultural landscape. Farmers in the state are seeing significant progress in key crops, with some areas showing conditions slightly below the national average but generally maintaining a positive outlook.

Corn and Soybean Development: For corn, North Dakota reported 30 percent of its crop in “Fair” condition, 57 percent in “Good,” and 2 percent in “Excellent.” This places North Dakota’s corn slightly behind the 18-state average of 22 percent “Fair,” 58 percent “Good,” and 15 percent “Excellent” for the same period.

Soybean emergence in North Dakota stands at 93 percent by June 29, 2025, matching the 2020-2024 average for the state. This is on par with the 18-state average of 94 percent emerged. In terms of blooming, North Dakota’s soybeans are at 13 percent, which is below the 18-state average of 17 percent. Soybean condition in North Dakota shows 32 percent “Fair,” 54 percent “Good,” and 2 percent “Excellent,” compared to the 18-state average of 27 percent “Fair,” 55 percent “Good,” and 11 percent “Excellent.”
