The McKenzie County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is set to expand its K-9 Unit, a move approved by the Board of County Commissioners on July 15, that includes out-of-state travel for a new deputy and canine. The decision underscores the county’s commitment to enhancing its law enforcement capabilities with specialized resources.
MCSO Deputy Jordan Magnuson has been formally offered the open patrol canine position, and the Sheriff’s Office is moving swiftly to get him and his new partner trained. “There is an opening at the Shallow Creek Kennels in Pennsylvania for training in September,” the Sheriff’s Office representative informed the Board.
The comprehensive training program, scheduled for mid-September, will cost $17,400. This fee covers “the dog and the training and the lodging for the employee,” according to the Sheriff’s Office.
