A warmth is settling over Watford City this holiday season, thanks to a powerful act of faith and service from the First Lutheran Church. A recent donation reminds us to help our friends and neighbors in all seasons. The church’s community members hope their generous donation of $10,000 to the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle campaign will inspire others to join the effort to support neighbors facing increasing hardship.

First Lutheran Church has long been a pillar of support for those in need, housing the McKenzie County Food Pantry - which has served over 170 families already in November alone - as well as the Quilting for Lutheran World Relief. This latest contribution to The Salvation Army, which mirrors last year’s donation, reflects the congregation’s awareness of the rising needs of the community. “We know many in our community are struggling, and we wanted to do something that would make a direct and meaningful difference for families right here at home,” said Minister Matthew Rolfson in a recent statement.
