Every once in a while, a story comes along that perfectly exposes what’s broken - not just in politics, not just in the legal system, but in modern journalism itself. What happened to Shark Tank’s Kevin O’Leary here in North Dakota is one of those stories.
Let’s start with the facts. Kevin O’Leary was sued by people he hadn’t even met. A livestock technology company and several of its executives and investors, including O’Leary, were sued by Melissa Brandao who founded Montana’s Rouge Cattle Company. She claimed, in Colorado federal court, that the defendants stole her company and intellectual property. The judge tossed the case out with prejudice. That’s legal-speak for: this was nonsense, it should never have been filed, and you don’t get a second bite at the apple.
