AS I SEE IT

The trouble with being empty nesters is that the holiday seasons can get awfully lonely. Like all parents with married children, Lisa and I have grudgingly accepted the fact that we can’t have our children with us each and every holiday.
We’ve spent more Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays apart than together over the past 10 or so years. It’s not that we haven’t wanted to get together, but when it comes to trying to coordinate schedules between our work and those of Justin and Liz, as well as Jason and Kalli, finding the same open days has been impossible.
And to be honest, while we’ve been able to get together as a family twice this past year - once for Jason and Kalli’s wedding and once for the baptism of Remi - the inability of having our family get together was getting to both Lisa and me.
